Hailing from numerous areas within the state of New Jersey, Man Overboard is a pop-punk band that formed in 2008 and is currently signed to Rise / Lost Tape Records. The band recently released their sophomore album, Heart Attack, which debuted at number 48 on the Billboard Top 200 chart.

About a year ago, I saw Man Overboard on the Vans Warped tour and they were great. They put on a great show and left a good first impression on me. Out of the band’s two albums and several EP’s, my favorite of them all is their acoustic EP from 2010, Noise From Upstairs. It’s really calming, but it’s really solid all the way through, and I can see it appealing to a wide range of listeners.

The Story So Far is an American pop-punk band from Walnut Creek, California. The band formed in 2007 and is currently signed with Pure Noise Records. The band recently released their second studio album, What You Don’t See on March 26, 2013. The band’s album debuted at number 46 on The Billboard 200. Ever since the band formed, they have lived by the idea of “you only deserve what you earn,” and they are a band that has definitely worked hard and totally earned the jobs and talent that they have today.

For the past two or three years, I have been hearing a lot about The Story So Far online through various social media sites. A couple weeks ago, I decided to finally give them a listen and I instantly fell in love with their pop punk tunes. I love the band’s debut album, Under Soil And Dirt (2011), which gives off a great vibe and is a really fun record to listen to.

American Punk-rock band, Bayside, is from Queens, New York and formed in the winter of 2000. The band has released five full length albums, four through Victory Records and one on Wind-Up Records. The band’s most recent release is titled Covers – Volume 1. As if the name didn’t give it away, the band recorded a bunch of covers by Van Morrison, The Ronettes, Del Shannon, Elvis Costello, and Billy Joel; the EP was released so fans could have some new material to listen to while the band began to write and record their sixth studio album.

Bayside is a band I’ve recently fallen in love with. My favorite album of theirs is Killing Time (2009). I think it’s got a great rock vibe, and solidifies the sound and attitude that the band had been trying to achieve with their music. Their song “Already Gone” is worth checking out, it’s the epitome of a catchy rock song.

American music duo, Twenty One Pilots formed in 2009 in Columbus, Ohio. The Pop/Alternative rock band put out two self-released albums before signing with Fueled by Ramen in 2012. The band released their first Fueled by Ramen full length album, Vessel, in 2013. Vessel reached number 58 on the billboard 200, 15 on the Rock Album Chart, and 10 on the Alternative Albums Chart.

I found Twenty One Pilots through Spotify and Facebook, and at first, it took me a while to get used to the sound of the band’s music. It’s totally different from anything else I’ve ever heard, but I have grown to really enjoy it. Their songs “Car Radio” and “Holding On To You” are totally worth checking out!

The Wonder Years is a pop-punk band that formed in 2005 in Lansdale, Pennsylvania. The band is signed to Hopeless records, and released their fourth studio album, The Greatest Generation, at the beginning of June. The album doubled the sales of their third studio album, Suburbia I’ve Given You All And Now I’m Nothing, and placed number 20 on the Billboard’s Top 200 chart.

I first heard about The Wonder Years in 2010 when their sophomore album, The Upsides was released. I instantly fell in love with their melodic take on pop-punk music. It’s been fun to watch the band and their music grow over the past few years. The Wonder Years newest release, The Greatest Generation is one of my favorite albums of all time. It’s always hard for me to chose my favorite albums, but The Greatest Generation is well….great. It’s an album that’s definitely worth checking out.

Pierce The Veil is a post-hardcore band from San Diego, California and was formed in 2007 by brothers Mike and Vic Fuentes. In 2007, the band released their first album A Flair for the Dramatic. Most recently, the band released their third studio album, Collide With The Sky, in July of 2012, and are about to embark on a South American tour to promote the album. Collide With The Sky is the bands loudest and most hard-core album to date (in a good way though!).

For the most part, I’m not really hardcore music, but there’s something about Pierce The Veil’s music that just completely changed my mind about that entire genre. The bands most recent album, Collide With The Sky, is definitely my favorite album of theirs. The band says that it was an album written about and for the fans, and the music and lyrics really show that.
